By mid-afternoon Saturday, Jim had finished nailing the shingles on the front side:
Then they started the back side which had to be covered with rolled roofing because of the shallow slope. First, 2 layers of the 30-lb peel-and-stick underlayment (I helped stomp down the air bubbles):
Then the final layer of peel-and-stick white composite shingle material was laid:
Stop for medical treatment...Jim cut himself while trimming the roll:
The backside is done by early evening. The white color will help keep the studio cool by reflecting the heat:
Jim came back Sunday morning and finished adding the ridge caps.
Perfect timing because it started to rain Sunday afternoon...large drops for a short time. Then at 2:00 AM Monday morning we both woke to the sound of pounding rain. Gerry went out to the original garage and bedroom to make sure everything was covered in plastic. Fortunately, the rain only lasted about 10-15 minutes.
